Biomass Based Boiler for Electricity and Heat

2021-04-14

Biomass is a renewable energy widely used in industrial applications and power plants in recent years. Biomass combustion boilers are widely used for power and heat.

Biomass-based generators: Vegetable oils such as jatropha can replace diesel fuel in diesel generators to generate power for off-grid applications or independent small grids.

Biomass-based power plant: The heat from the direct combustion of biomass in a boiler can be used to generate electricity through a turbine or engine. Steam cycling is not very efficient, but it is currently the cheapest and most reliable way to generate electricity from biomass for stand-alone applications.

Biomaterial based combined heat and power (CHP) plant: The process of producing two useful forms of energy, usually electricity and heat, from the same fuel source. If waste heat is economically applied, cogeneration can significantly improve the overall efficiency of power plants (and thus their competitiveness). If a good match can be found between heating and heating, the overall (thermal + electricity) efficiency of a combined heat and power (CHP) plant (also known as a combined heat and power plant) is in the range of 80-90%. The process of using the heat from biomass combustion for industrial processes (for example, drying products such as ceramic tiles) is well established in some industries, such as pulp and paper, sugar mills and palm oil mills.

Waste to energy plants based on municipal solid waste (MSW) : Municipal solid waste (MSW) is a kind of very diverse and often badly polluted raw material, need reliable technology and stringent emission control, thus increasing the cost of waste into energy device, in spite of municipal solid waste in most countries/regions still has huge potential, but is still in its largely untapped energy resources.
