Straw is an important biomass resource, the burning value of straw is about 55% of standard coal. my country can produce more than 700 million tons of crop straws every year. If all of them are used for burning, the calorific value of 400 million tons of standard coal can be reduced. The advantages of biomass fuel are: the heating value of biomass is equivalent to that of coal in the stratified furnace in some areas of my country (about 16500kJ/kg). Biomass mainly contains volatile matter. Thermogravimetric analysis of straw and rice husk shows that the content of volatile matter is as high as 70%-85%. These characteristics determine that it not only has good coal substitution effect, but also determines the excellent ignition and combustion performance of biomass.
As environmental awareness has increased, companies have also taken advantage of local advantages and combined with local policies to use rice husks, straw, distiller’s grains, wood and other raw materials for deep processing to make biomass pellets for fuel combustion.
